Japan crises: why the media makes me sick

Going through my news feed today, I was floored by how many articles there were criticizing someone about Japan's current crises situation. Articles about their government, the Red Cross, our government, our utility companies-- the list is endless! For God's sake, the situation is still unfolding and people still desperately need help! It's not the appropriate time to critique anyone for anything; it's time to deal with the immediate need. If the energy that went into standing on a podium (like I am, ironically, doing now) and shaking your fist was put towards getting blankets to people huddled in schools with no heat and no electricity, I would list you among my personal heroes. Seriously, our media needs to grow up. If you can't do anything to help the situation, show some humanitarian respect by not turning the worst thing that will ever happen to them and their families into a cheap mud-slinging circus. How can you, really, look at the faces of the teriffied children with nothing left and still churn out this absolute crap? ...rant over...thanks for listening.

Del Monte Gives Middle Finger to Nature with Plastic-Bagged Bananas (WTF?!)

Seriously, plastic is some scary sh*t. That plastic bottle on the sidewalk you just stepped over will be around after we're all extinct. So, why in the hell is it a good idea to take a banana and sell it individually wrapped in plastic? In fewer words, that's dumb!

No ties??

1687946381

Spent the morning shredding old paperwork. I have a love hate relationship with our shredder. I would love to see the motor go out so I can get a new one. Every time I use it I laugh at the safety icons plastered across the top. One of them is a picture of a necktie with an X through it. The caption states: 'No tie.' Really?? What I find disturbing is that they probably wouldn't have put it there unless, at some point, people trying to shred their neckties enough for it to become a problem. I can't think of a necktie I've owned that was ugly enough for me to attempt to dispose of it in my shredder.
